LooLa Eco-Resort Trip (20-22 July’18)

LooLa Eco-Resort Trip (20-22 July’18)

We know that finding a holiday experience near Singapore with good veg food is hard.  One of our Exco members has been taking students on trips to this resort for many years and always accommodated for his diet quite well.  Not only that, but the resort was unique in being an eco-resort and helping empower the local Indonesian community. It is also a family-owned resort, with the owners being genuinely passionate about sustainability and designing the resort embody that.

So we reached out and they invited us over for a weekend to design a weekend get-away filled with delicious local Indonesian food and activities that help make a difference to the environment and local community.

Hear more about this incredible resort from the people themselves and we hope you’ll join us for a weekend of fun, meaning, and delicious food.

Why Join this Trip?

  1. Food

We worked with the local Indonesian staff to bring out their traditional dishes cooked with local ingredients – the flavors are incredible and they’re very proud to share their cultural dishes.  From jackfruit gulais to tofu sambals to pulut hitam to discovering unique ingredients like jengkol.

  1. Opportunities for Adventure or Relaxation

For the adventurous you can go rock & coconut tree climbing climbing, zip lining, skywalking, swimming and kayaking in between other activities.  For those wanting to take a break, you can relax looking at the beautiful blue ocean, play some petanque, read or enjoy some good conversation.

  1. Immersing yourself in Nature

You’ll have the opportunity to explore seaflats, the local forests and do a night walk to see the nocturnal wildlife of the area.  There are many mangroves, and you’ll be able to plant new mangroves to help the environment.

  1. The stars…

On a clear night, there is incredible stargazing as we are away from all the light pollution.  Anyone who is really keen on using a telescope can ask and use one at the resort!

  1. Genuine about sustainability

There are many resorts out that that advertise being green, but this one really walks the talk and that’s a reason we chose them.  It has won many awards as it uses solar power, collects rainwater, builds out of sustainable materials, composts food waste, recycles and much more.  Not only that, but it’s a nice trip by ferry, so we avoid the carbon footprint of a flight.

  1. Making a Difference for Indonesian Community

The surrounding community does not make a lot of money and as such, many families do not have proper disposal of waste water from their home, which actually leads to many health issues for the families, especially children.  One part of our trip will be to help build a Safe Water Garden for a local family that will help save lives and eliminate groundwater pollution in the area.

  1. Support Vegetarian Society (Singapore)

Part of the proceeds from this trip will help continue to fund our charity work in Singapore.  You’ll be able to meet some of the Exco as well on the trip and learn more about what we’re doing for the cause.

We hope you see this is not like any other trip – we fit a lot of meaningful experiences and fun in to this weekend and we hope you can join us!  It’s appropriate for all ages – from children to adults.
