Nowadays, more people in Singapore and other developed countries are moving towards plant-based diets. Plant-based diets consist of foods from plants, such as whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, vegetables and fruits. Scientific evidence suggests that plant-based diets benefit human health, environmental protection and the welfare of non-human animals. Plant-based foods are readily available at restaurants, food stalls and markets. Plus, many recipes are available at libraries and online to teach us how to make our own plant-based dishes. This talk is conducted by Dr Ong Hean Yee, who is a cardiologist in private practice. He was the Head of Department of Cardiology in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital till 2016. He is the Vice President of the Singapore Cardiac Society as well as a member of the Domain Specific Review Board which oversees the ethical conduct of clinical trials. His credentials include MBBCh BAO (Belf), FRCP (UK), FAMS (S’pore), FESC (EU), FasCC (ASEAN), ASCeXAM (NBE).
