The month of May is typically a time when humans celebrate their mothers for bringing life and love into their world. Why not extend this consideration to arguably the most important of them - Mother Earth?

The Green Singapore Sale
While the annual Great Singapore Sale, which is from 25 May - 22 Jul this year, is such a popular and common event, one person from our community envisioned having something similar within that sale period for green conscious shoppers and to support local green businesses. Thus Greenstore is organising The Green Singapore Sale 2012 at http://www.greensingaporesale.com for one month from 22 June to 22 Jul to celebrate eco-friendly, sustainable and ethical shopping.

The sale promises to be a month where consumers can check out green products and services, and enjoy discounts and deals from various businesses. The VSS is proud to endorse this noble initiative by notable green movement activist Eugene Tay.

Veg Food in Bintan?

We were posed the question on where veg food might be available in Bintan, Indonesia, and we naturally approached our good friends there for their advice. The following is part of the response from our knowledgeable friend in Indonesia, Pak Jowly.

"I often tell people I'm very proud of Bintan veg food. They serve various, fresh and delicious home-made foods. Every morning, these two veg outlets sell different dishes. The first built veg outlet there is Bodhi Vegetarian in Jalan Bakar Batu. The largest one is Depot Bumi Vegetarian, located in Jalan Suka Berenang, Batu 4, opposite Maitreya Centre and Vegetarian Schools."

Finding Veggie Hotels Around the World
An interesting concept to cater to the growing number of veg travellers, one enterprising entrepreneur based in Berlin has consolidated information on purely vegetarian hotels, Bed & Breakfast locales, seminar houses etc. The web-directory currently has about 250 locations across 37 countries and the brains behind the idea intend to establish an innovative hotel association to support the purely vegetarian and vegan hospitality industry. The founder reports that the feedback from both hotels and users has been positive and encouraging and hopes to build on its success.

Do support this initiative by using the service for your own travel needs - you can visit the web-directory by following this link - http://www.veggie-hotels.com.
