Did you know that eating more fruits and vegetables can help to prevent diseases? Come join us for two simultaneous talks  on “Staying Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables” at Yio Chu Kang Community Club and learn about the recommended intakes, and gain ideas of how to add more fruits and vegetables into our diet. What’s more, we have also invited Ms Adeline Tan from LINS Smoodees to give us a demo on making your own smoodees. Be spoiled for choice of either attending a Mandarin or an English talk conducted by two speakers, Nutritionist Ms Ng Hooi Lin and Nutritionist Ms. Kohila, respectively.

Synopsis

1. Importance of vegetables and fruits in disease prevention.
2. Recommendations for vegetables and fruits intake.
3. Ideas for adding more fruits and vegetables to our daily diet.

Nutritionist Ng Hooi Lin with BSc (Nutrition) and MSc (Sports Science) has a particular interest in community health promotion. Hooi Lin has been actively involved in planning and implementing educational programmes in the area of heart health and nutrition for lower income residents. In addition, Hooi Lin also provides diet counselling to her clients.

Hooi Lin contributes regularly as a columnist with Lianhe Zaobao and website http://www.omy.sg and maintains an active online presence via personal blogs. Hooi Lin has also been invited to speak at health seminars organised by Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao. Hooi Lin’s experience with the media extends to radio and television where she has been interviewed on numerous occasions by radio 1003, Capital 958,

营养师伍卉苓拥有营养学学士和运动科学硕士,现任新加坡心脏基金的营养师。她主要负责策划、执行心脏健康饮食推广相关活动,积极在社区推广健康饮食,并教育民众预防心脏病。伍卉苓也在心脏复健中心为心脏病友或高风险群人士进行饮食辅导

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Kohila Govindaraju has a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Bharathidasan University, India and recently acquired a Specialised Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences from Republic Polytechnic, and certified in "Fundamental Clinical Diabetes Management", NUSAGE (NUS Academy Of Gxp Excellence). She has worked as a Dietician in both Allopathic and Naturopathic institutes in India and counselled patients diagnosed with diabetes, obesity and peptic & duodenal ulcers. In 2009, she was featured in a programme on health and diet on a local TV show, answering queries related to obesity, geriatric nutrition and healthy skin care
