New Address for VSS Student Membership Scheme

VSS recently launched a free student membership scheme, and now there’s a special address: www.coolerplanet.sg
To join, you must be 23 years old or younger. No need to be 100% veg, as long as you support he idea of meat reduction.

Three More Library Talks in May, Jun & Jul

Our first 2010 Library Talk took place on 3 Apr at Bishan Public Library. Our next three talks will be at Bukit Merah Community Library:


Our next talk, on Sun, 9 May, 2.30-4.30pm, features Dr Raymond Yuen, speaking on ‘Healing Chronic Illnesses through Your Diet’.

The next two talks will be by VSS Executive Committee member, Douglas Teo, a TCM physician. On Sun, 27 Jun, 3-4.30pm, he will speak in Mandarin on ‘Vegetarian Diets according to Your Body Type'. Then, Douglas will address the same topic, but in English, on Sun, 25 Jul, 3-4.30pm. Again, the May, Jun and Jul talks are all at Bukit Merah Community Library.



Did You Miss the Brown Rice Talk at Bishan Library?

Our first library talk for 2010, on 3 Apr at Bishan Public Library, drew more than 35 people to learn about brown rice in all its splendour from one of Singapore’s experts on organic brown rice, Heng Guan Hou. For those who missed Hou’s talk, here are the slides:

The Brownie Factory has done a lot to promote vegetarianism and veg organisations in Singapore. From 15 Apr, they will be at a new location.

Vegan Diet Produces Huge Results for Formerly Huge Firefighters

Recently, Rip appeared on U.S. tv. Here are two segments, one before and the other after, from the Dr Oz tv show which document the remarkable transformation in three firefighters thanks to Rip’s leadership and his father’s science.

Metta Carnival 2010

Now in its 13th anniversary, the carnival is one of our main outreach events that aims to build family resiliency and community bonds, while raising funds for Metta’s - www.metta.org.sg - welfare initiatives and services. Free shuttle bus from Simei MRT from 8am-6pm
Estimated turnout: Over 5000
Highlights: Over 100 trade, food and game stalls that purvey treats ranging from vegetarian food to unique handicrafts, trendy apparel to henna painting. The event also features continuous stage performances and a walkathon led by Guest-of-Honour Ms Jessica Tan, MP for East Coast GRC.
